Twiangulate

Twiangulate is a Twitter network analysis tool that maps the social connections between Twitter accounts, identifying mutual followers, shared connections, and network relationships between multiple accounts or between an account and its followers/following. It visualizes the social graph around Twitter accounts.

For OSINT investigators, network relationship analysis between Twitter accounts provides intelligence that individual account examination cannot reveal. Understanding who follows whom, what accounts share a mutual audience, and how accounts are connected through their follower networks maps the social relationships in a Twitter community or around specific subjects.

Mutual follower analysis between two specific accounts reveals the shared audience — people who follow both accounts simultaneously. When two otherwise apparently unrelated accounts share a specific set of followers, it may indicate an affiliation or coordination between the accounts that is not explicitly stated.

For influence operation investigations, Twiangulate helps identify when accounts that appear organic actually share highly correlated follower/following networks — suggesting coordinated creation or coordinated manipulation of follower lists.

Social circle mapping around a subject's account identifies their primary Twitter community — the accounts they are most connected to and the broader network of accounts that constitute their online social environment. This network context helps investigators understand a subject's associations and potential source of influence on the platform.

Follower network analysis can identify inauthentic activity: accounts with thousands of followers but whose followers are overwhelmingly bot or fake accounts (identifiable through follower quality metrics) versus genuine accounts with authentic audiences.
