Instahunt (instahunt.huntintel.io) is an Instagram OSINT tool that enables searching Instagram posts by geolocation — finding all publicly tagged posts from a specific location or geographic area. It queries Instagram's location-based content to surface posts made at specific venues, neighborhoods, or coordinates.
For OSINT investigators, geolocation-based Instagram search addresses a specific intelligence need that platform's own search interface doesn't serve well: finding all posts made from a specific location, regardless of who posted them. When investigating an incident at a specific location, or trying to understand what activity was documented at a target location, Instahunt surfaces all relevant geotagged posts from that area.
Location-based evidence gathering is the primary investigative application. When an incident occurred at a specific venue or address, searching that location on Instahunt can surface photographs and videos posted by witnesses or participants who were present at the time. This community-generated documentary evidence often captures details that official photography and reporting miss.
Venue-based profiling helps investigators understand what specific locations — businesses, residences, events — look like from the perspective of people who visit them. This visual intelligence supports site assessment, location verification, and understanding the public character of specific places.
For event investigation, Instahunt's location search can surface all social media posts from a specific event venue during a specific time period — potentially identifying who was present based on their own voluntary geotagged posting.
Criminal venue intelligence: locations known for criminal activity often appear in Instagram posts by individuals who frequent or operate from those locations. Geotagged posts can reveal the social network and regular visitors of specific venues relevant to criminal investigations.
Limitations: Only publicly geotagged posts are discoverable. Many users post without location tags, and location accuracy depends on the precision of the tag applied by the poster.
