Investigator Use
PhoneInfoga is an open-source Python tool available on GitHub that performs comprehensive intelligence gathering on phone numbers through passive OSINT techniques. It combines carrier and geographic data from telecom APIs with targeted search engine queries to build a detailed intelligence profile for any phone number.
For OSINT investigators, PhoneInfoga goes beyond simple caller ID lookup by automating a systematic multi-source intelligence collection process. A single PhoneInfoga run performs carrier lookup, geographic analysis, number validity verification, and executes targeted Google, social media, and OSINT-specific search queries designed to surface online mentions of the phone number.
The automated Google dorking capability is particularly valuable — PhoneInfoga generates and executes search queries specifically crafted to find where a phone number appears online: classified ads, dating profiles, social media accounts, forum posts, review websites, and other indexed content. This surfaces investigation leads that would require hours of manual searching to discover.
Carrier and country data establish the telecom operator and geographic origin of a phone number, distinguishing between mobile, fixed-line, and VoIP numbers. This classification affects how the number should be investigated and what records may exist at the carrier level.
Format normalization handles international number formats and E.164 conversion, ensuring that the number is searched correctly across different format representations.
PhoneInfoga's modular scanner design allows investigators to add custom search queries and data sources specific to their investigative context or target regions.
Installation requires Python and appropriate API keys for some scanner modules. The tool should be run against target numbers with appropriate legal authority and documented authorization.
For privacy and operational security, PhoneInfoga makes search queries from the investigator's system — use in an appropriately anonymized environment if source IP concealment is required.
Document all PhoneInfoga runs with target number, modules executed, and all returned intelligence for case records.
